Makeup wise, I tend to throw all my money into the basics: foundation, concealer and bold lip and eye colors. My fabulous esthetician/makeup artist Mandy Wright, has schooled me for a long time about pigmentation, ingredients & creation processes that makes a formula better than another. The heavier and longer lasting pigmented colors are made much better (i.e. much more expensive). I guess that would explain a $60 concealer Cleu de Peau! With this knowledge and my ever increasing shoe & clothes expenditures, I've always tried to skimp and save on my mascara by buying drugstore brands. I guess it might not go unnoticed that I try to "save" on the one of the most inexpensive items in the makeup lot, giggle (these $15 "savings" ironically allow to me to justify buying those over priced shoes or purse!). Oh, occasionally I would splurge on one if I read that it was being touted as the next best thing, but would always be un-wowed and return to Target for the next tube. I recently tried a new moderately expensive mascara on recommendation, and was not disappointed!
Voted as Elle 2010 Green Stars Best Mascara, Tarte's Lights, Camera, Lashes! lives up to the hype. On the green front, it comes in a uber cool recyclable funky faux crocodile packaging and is made cruelty free. It's also created without synthetic dyes or fragrances, and with a fabulous blend of 100% natural ingredients. Aside from being environmentally friendly, it makes my lashes seem miles long and doesn't smudge or flake, laaaa!!
